The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 8, 1948
Howard P. Benton, 55, husband of Mrs. Fannie Brownley Benton and son of the 
late Martin L. and Mrs. Clementine Lewis Benton, former of Norfolk, died 
yesterday at 6:15 a.m. in New York City. Besides his wife he is survived by two 
sisters, Mrs. C.T. Evans, of Norfolk, and Mrs. C.T. Bunton, of Mathews County; 
three brothers, Vernon Benton, of New York, Charles and Everett Benton, of 
Newport News.
Services will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Friday at 2 
p.m. by the Rev. R. Orman Bryant, D.D., pastor of Park Place Methodist Church.  
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
