NORFOLK - Annie Bernard, 84, of the 2500 block of Westminster Ave., died 
February 1, 1990, in a hospital.

Mrs. Bernard, a Norfolk native, was the widow of Samuel Bernard Sr. She was a 
member of Queen Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary M. Smallwood of Norfolk; two sons, Elijah 
Bernard and Samuel Bernard Jr., both of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Queen Street Baptist Church 
by the Rev. L. Ray Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Fitchett 
Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
