Dr. J. B. Henderson, assisted by the Rev. R. B. Martin, officiated. Miss Marion Knox sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mrs. Bibbins was the daughter of the late James J. and Mrs. Mary D. Brehon, and the widow of the late Charles L. Bibbins. She was active in church, civic and social affairs. She attended Norfolk Mission College and taught at Hayden High School in Franklin, VA, for 28 years. She was a member of Bank Street Church choir for 20 years, and a member of the Daughters of Norfolk. She was also a member of the Franklin Chapter Virginia State College Alumni Association, the Thursday Evening Social Club, and the Rose of Sharon Lodge at Franklin, VA. She held membership in the choir, the deaconess board, the Women’s Council, the Dorcas, and missionary societies of Bank Street Baptist Church, and the Thursday Night Bridge Club of Norfolk. When Mrs. Bibbins retired from Franklin school system in 1951, citizens of that city presented her a diamond ring. Prominent businessmen also gave her gifts at the time of her retirement. She taught first grade students all during her teaching career. The Franklin school superintendent, and citizens, last November made Mrs. Bibbins an honored guest at dedication services for the new Hayden High School building. Survivors are, a son, C. A. Bibbins; a sister, Mrs. Annie B. Fulford, a granddaughter, Katherine Rose Bibbins, all of Norfolk; three nephews, Brehon, Curtis and Father Benedict Fulford; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. A. Bibbins. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Attorneys W. T. Mason Jr., Hilary H. Jones, and E. S. Peters and Messrs. E. T. Poole, L. L. Hughes, and H. G. Christopher.
