NORFOLK, Mrs. Frieda Birshtein, 78, for many years active in Jewish and civic 
life here died Monday at 4 a.m. in a hospital.
Born in Poland, she was a daughter of Rabbi and Mrs. Moses D. Stafsky. She 
lived here 57 years.
She was a charter member of Norfolk Chapter of Hadassah and the Golden Age 
Club, and member of B'Nai Israel Congregation and B'Nai Israel Sisterhood.
Surviving are three sons, S. J. Birshtein of Clarksburg, WV, and M. I. 
Birshtein and O. B. Birshtein of Norfolk; and a daughter, Mrs. Anna Geffen of 
Atlanta.
A funeral service was held Monday at 4 p.m. in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 
with burial in B'Nai Israel Cemetery.
