Mrs. Bittle was born in New York City, but had been a longtime resident of Norfolk. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk, a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 367 Women's Auxiliary, a volunteer with the Virginia Opera, a member of the Kent Park Guild, and was very active with the Mobile Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Opie H. Bittle; two daughters, Joanne Randolph and her husband, Robert, of Norfolk, Margaret Mary Wildermann and her husband, Charles, of LaPlata, Md., Michael T. Bittle and his wife, Cecelia, of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Norfolk. There will be a wake service at the church Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church Building Fund. H.D.
