Mr. Bittle retired from the Navy as a CWO after 30 years. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bittle was born in Heber Springs, Ark., and was the widower of Margaret C. Bittle. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Norfolk. Mr. Bittle was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 367 and the Ryan Club. He volunteered with both Mobile Meals and the Virginia Opera. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Randolph of Norfolk, Margaret Wildermann of LaPlata, Md.; a son, Michael T. Bittle of Portsmouth; two sisters, Eloise Dampf and Ruth Bankhead, both of Heber Springs; nine grandchildren; and a great- grandchild. A funeral mass of resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church by Rev. Brian Rafferty.
