NORFOLK — William John Bivens, of 1024 Billings St., died Monday in a hospital.

He was a native of Monroe, N.C., and the husband of the late Martha Bivens. He was 
a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had retired from Rices Nachmans after 
20 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary B. Williams of Jamaica, N.Y.; a son, William 
Bivens III of White Plains, N.Y.; two brothers, Tamis Bivens of Monroe and Paul 
Bivens of Oakboro, N.C.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A Joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in St. 
Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas Quillan. Burial will be in the church 
cemetery, with Graves Funeral Home in charge.
