Norfolk - Ruth Magadlene Thompson Barrett Black entered into eternal rest on
Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia Beach, Virginia. 

Ruth was born to the late James and Mary Thompson on July 24, 1951. She was educated
in Norfolk Public School System and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High
School. Ruth was employed and retired from Sentara Leigh Hospital. Ruth accepted
Christ at an early age. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James
Thompson and sister, Janette Thompson. 

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Richard Black; daughter, Karen
Barrett Brinkley; two grandchildren, Trinity Brinkley and Gabrielle Brinkley; her
siblings, Reverend Weldon E. Thompson, Reginald Thompson, Arthur Thompson and
Marietta D. Thompson; her Aunt, Golethia Smith and Uncle Howard Burton; and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held a 12:00 on Tuesday at Second Calvary Baptist Church.
Viewing will be on Monday from 3:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
