Born in Norfolk, she was retired and was a member of the New Life Worship Center and its choir. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Baron Black of Norfolk; six sisters, Agatha Johnson, Ruth Cheek, Barbara Stewart and Phyllis Knockett, all of Norfolk, and Dianne Johnson and Sharon Handy, both of Chesapeake; and one brother, Reginald Jones of New York City. A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday at New Life Worship Center, 37th Street and Hampton Blvd., by the Rev. Dr. Carl Vann. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be ready for viewing Tuesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
