Arthur Alvah Blair, aged 81, husband of Mrs. Nettie Blair and son of the late Henry and Mrs. Teresa Davis Blair, a native of Portsmouth and a well known resident of Norfolk for 47 years, died yesterday morning at 10:10 o'clock at the residence, 502 Hermon Avenue. Captain Blair for 30 years was connected with the Ballard Fish and Oyster Co., from which position he was retired two years ago. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Nettie Blair, he is survived by two grandchildren, Miss Mary Blair Wilson and Chapin E. Wilson and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 9;30 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services at the residence Sunday night at 8 o'clock. *************************************************************************** Funeral services for Capt. Arthur Alvah Blair, who died Saturday morning at 10:10 o'clock at the residence, 502 Hermon Avenue, were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Paul V. Heller officiating. The Rev. F. V. Bambrick was present in the sanctuary. In his address at the conclusion of the mass, Father Heller paid tribute to the Christian life of Captain Blair. During the service, Mrs. Stark A. Sutton sang, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought", and a duet, "Veni Jesu", was sung by Mrs. Sutton and Prof. J. Harvey Stevens, with Professor Stevens as accompanist. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of white and pink carnations and ferns. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The pallbearers were I. T. Ballard, Dr. James W. Hunter, V. L. Hodges, M. Freeman, W. T. Marshall, L. I. Griggs, R. A. Savage and W. Ballard.
