Norfolk Virginian Pilot Tuesday September 7, 1949

Mrs. Louisianna Bass Blake, widow of James S. Blake and daughter of the late 
James T. and Mrs. Martha Ellen Britt Bass, a native of Bertie County, N.C., 
and a resident of Norfolk for many years, died yesterday at 10:55 a.m. at a 
Norfolk hospital. 
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Blake, of Tarboro, N.C.; a granddaughter, 
Mrs. Howard E. Haines, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Cottie B. 
Edmonds; a niece, Miss Margaret Edmonds, and two nephews, Raymond O. Edmonds 
and A. Hume Edmonds, all of Norfolk.
Services will be conducted privately at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartment’s 
tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, pastor of Central Baptist 
Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
