Norfolk Virginian August 31, 1884

Mr. A.D. Blake, a member of the firm of Smith, Snow & Co., and a useful citizen, 
died at his residence in this city yesterday. He had been in a critical 
condition for some time past.

The funeral of Mr. A.D. Blake took place from his residence on Sunday afternoon, 
the services being conducted by Rev. Geo. D. Armstrong.  The several orders to 
which he belonged did not turn out in uniform, in response to an expressed wish 
of the deceased before his death.
