Blick died at his home, "Lindehurst," Avenue C, Huntersville, Sunday at 9:15 a.m., after an illness of two weeks, in the 73d year of his age. The deceased was born in the city of Petersburg, but came to Norfolk at the age of 18 years, where he has since resided. Thirty years ago he followed the vocation of builder and contractor, but later on conducted a family grocery on the corner of Church and Cove Streets, but at the time of his demise was associated with the Blick floral establishment on Granby Street. He was well known and highly esteemed in the community. He was a prominent member of the following benevolent organizations: Norfolk Council Royal Arcanum, the Sambrosis Society (formerly Chosen Friends), Washington Lodge and Jerusalem Encampment of Odd Fellows, Norfolk Lodge Knights of Pythias, the Knights and Ladies of Honor and the Home Circle. He is survived by four children - Mrs. Rosa Stewart , J.W. Blick, Lloyd T. Blick and Miss Lovey Blick. The funeral will be solemnized from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a consistent member for many years, at 3 o'clock this afternoon. *********************************************************************** The funeral of the late B.D. Blick was solemnized from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church of which the deceased was a member, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and was numerously attended including delegations from the various organizations with which the deceased was connected. The service was conducted by Rev. Dr. W.G. Starr, D.D., pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. C.L. Bano , of Memorial M.E. Church, Berkley ward. During the service the choir rendered "One Sweetly Solemn Thought," and a favorite selection of the deceased was touchingly sung by Mrs. Farmer. There was a magnificent display of floral tributes, including a beautiful cluster of red roses from Norfolk Council Royal Arcanum, a cluster of carnations from Norfolk Lodge Knights of Honor and a "Gates Ajar" from the Blick greenhouses. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were as follows: James W. Brown, E.J. Whitehurst, Frank Lindsay, J.W. Beasley, James E. McCoy Sr., Geo. W. Hall, E.T. Thomas, T.B. Jackson, Benjamin Reynolds and Walter A. Edwards.
