Virginian-Pilot August 27, 1909

Mrs. Katherine Bloomer, formerly of this city, died Monday, August 23, in 
Bloomington, Ill. Her remains will be brought here for burial and are expected 
to arrive this afternoon. She is survived by a husband, three daughters, Mrs. 
Mary Cherry, ,of Bloomington, Ill.; Sister Frances Clare, of St. Louis and 
Sister Theckla, of Baltimore; two nieces, Mrs.. Ellen Hoy, of Norfolk and Miss 
Kate Corbett, of Norfolk and one nephew, John Corbett, of Norfolk.

BLOOMER - At Bloomington, Ill., Monday, August 23, 1909, CATHARINE, wife of J.L. 
Bloomer and sister of the late Mrs. Mary Corbett, in the 71st year of her age.
Services at the residence of her niece, Mrs. John Hoy, No. 213 Cooke Avenue, 
THIS (Saturday) AFTERNOON at 4 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to 
attend.

The remains of Mrs. Catherine Bloomer, wife of J. L. Bloomer, whose death 
occurred at Bloomington, Ill., Monday last, arrived in Norfolk Friday evening, 
accompanied by her husband. The funeral was held from the residence of her 
niece, Mrs. John Hoy, 213 Cooke avenue, Brambleton, at 4 o’clock yesterday 
afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Father John J. Doherty of St. 
Mary’s Catholic Church. The interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
