Virginian-Pilot  August 29, 1909
The remains of Mrs. Catherine Bloomer, wife of J. L. Bloomer, whose death occurred 
at Bloomington, Ill., Monday last, arrived in Norfolk Friday evening, accompanied 
by her husband. The funeral was held from the residence of her niece, Mrs. John 
Hoy, 213 Cooke avenue, Brambleton, at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The service 
was conducted by Rev. Father John J. Doherty of St. Mary’s Catholic church. The 
interment was in St. Mary's cemetery.
