Blount, of the 3500 block of Vimy Ridge Ave., died July 8, 2003. Born in Havelock, N.C., she was retired from Laid Law School Bus Service. She was a member of United House of Prayer for All People Norfolk No. 1 and Order of Eastern Star Adeline Ward No. 197 OES. Surviving are her husband, Matthew Blount Sr.; three daughters, Mary B. Harrell (James), Havana B. Wright (Willie) and Vearn E. Watson (Landis); two sons, Harvey M. Blount Sr. (Janice) of Washington, D.C. and Matthew Blount Jr. (Dandy) of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Verona Thornton of Chesapeake and Victoria Dodson of Norfolk; a brother, Elijah Carter of New Bern, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon in United House of Prayer for All People, Norfolk, by Apostle W.R. Scott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
