Matthew Blount Sr. of the 3500 block of Vimy Ridge Ave. died July 16, 2004. He 
was born in Norfolk and was the widower of Havana C. Blount. He was a member of 
United House of Prayer for All People, Norfolk, its Deacon Board, and a member 
of Masonic Lodge Rising Sun No. 2 PHA Cohesion No. 14, HRAM Adline Ward No. 197 
Eastern Star. 

Survivors include his three daughters, Mary B. Harrell (James), Havana B. Wright 
(Willie) and Vearn E. Watson (Landis), all of Norfolk; two sons, Harvey M. 
Blount Sr. (Janice) of Washington, D.C., and Matthew Blount Jr. (Dandy) of Los 
Angeles, Calif.; a brother, James Blount of Wilmington, Del.; 14 grandchildren; 
12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and 
friends. 

A funeral will be held Saturday at noon in United House of Prayer for All People 
in Norfolk by Elder Maurice Huff. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The 
family will have a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk 
chapel, is in charge.
