Bock will be buried today with photographs of his family and a letter from his mother in his hand. The 25 year old carpenter was found in his South Norfolk home about 2 a.m. Saturday. Police are investigating the death, but no one has been taken into custody. "It's totally senseless," said Evie M. Evans, Bock's mother, "I don't care what the circumstances were, there's no reason for anybody to do what was done to him." She said Bock, a single father, had a 17-month-old son, Jack Alan Bock Jr., whom he planned to bring to her Great Bridge home on Christmas Eve. "He was a very happy-go-lucky person," she said. "He loved his son very much." Bock, a Portsmouth native, was a 1983 graduate of Western Branch High School. A carpenter for about eight years, he was employed with Warren Construction Co. in Chesapeake. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
