On Friday morning, George, a crippled son of the deceased, left his home between 6 and 7 o’clock and went to look for work. When the son left home, the old gentleman was sick in bed. George returned between 8 and 9 o’clock at night and found his father dead. George immediately notified the Coroner, but under a late ordinance of the Councils, regulating the holding of Coroners’ inquests, nothing could be done, and the body had to lie in the house all night with no prospects of a burial. The family, consisting of father and three children, are in very destitute circumstances, but two of the children have not been home for some days, leaving the crippled son George to look out for and support his father. George had no money to bury his father and had to call on the city to do so.
