Virginian Pilot July 25, 1973

Mrs. Maria Bond of 1005 Grayson St., the widow of Henderson Bond, died Tuesday 
in a hospital.
A native of Edenton, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Jim and Mrs. Penelpy 
(Penelope?) Davis.
She was a member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church and a former member of the 
Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Annie L. Braswell and Mrs. Ann E. Johnson of 
New York, Mrs. Marie Lester, Mrs. Ethel Gore and Mrs. Marion Boush of Norfolk; 
three sons, James Bond, Philip Bond and Willie Bond, and three sisters, Mrs. 
Minnie Taylor, Mrs. Lillie Epps and Mrs. Arleathia Sharp, all of Norfolk; 16 
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Metropolitan AME Zion Church 
on Springfield Avenue by the Rev. R.A. Councill. Burial will be in Calvary 
Cemetery with Tidewater Funeral Service and Earl R. Warren, funeral director, in 
charge.
