On March 15, 2004, Mary Bond departed this life to go home to be with the Lord. 
She was born in Crestwell, N.C., July 6, 1898, to Hattie and Lonnie Lyons. She 
was educated in the Norfolk city public school system. She married Charlie Bond 
April 1, 1923, and was married to him until his death March 27, 1960. She 
enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping others. She has given to many people 
through acts of kindness and words of encouragement. She lived a long, full life 
and was known for her sense of humor and pleasant demeanor. She was a woman who 
loved her family and gave so much to them and those around her. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Bond; four children, Wallace Bond, 
Charlie Bond, Elizabeth Collins and Lasell Bond. She leaves to cherish her 
memory two granddaughters, Sandra Judd and Beverly Lee, both of Virginia Beach; 
four grandsons, Lawrence Collins Jr., Ronald Collins, Maurice Collins and 
Marcelle Russell, all of Norfolk; 12 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, -nephews, cousins, 
other relatives and friends. 

A funeral will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Riddick Funeral 
Service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at 
1037 Lord Dunmore Drive. www.riddickfuneralsvc.com.
