Her funeral was held at Garrett’s A.M.E. Zion Church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. R. K. D. Garrett officiating. Selecting an appropriate passage from the Book of St. James, Dr. Garrett touchingly eulogized the deceased. He pointed out the virtues of living the Christian life and its hope of eternal reward with striking clearness. He was at great pains to speak consolingly for the bereaved members of the family, and closed his sermon by pointing the survivors to the blessed life beyond the grave. Mrs. Boney was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. James of 916 Gordon avenue, and the sister of Buck, Robert, Floyd, Charlie and Ernest James and Mrs. Lucy James Keeling, Geneva James Prescott, the Misses Elnora and Viola James, and the sister-in-law Mrs. Lillian James, wife of Buck James, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by a husband and four children, and a host of relatives. Mrs. Boney had been a Christian for a number of years and was highly esteemed in her neighborhood. Her remains were interred in Calvary Cemetery.
