The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Monday December 9, 1940
Henry Gideon Bonney, Sr., aged 78, son of the late Henry W. and Mrs. Aseneth 
White Bonney, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. George Hoyer, 
Parkwood Court Apartments, 3719 Granby street, yesterday afternoon at 2 
o'clock. Mr. Bonney was a native of Knotts Island, N.C., and a resident of 
Norfolk for the past 60 years. He was a life member of Norfolk Lodge 38, 
B.P.O. Elks. 
Surviving are three son, H.G. Bonney, Jr., H.H. Bonney and Dr. H.E. Bonney; 
one daughter, Mrs. George Hoyer; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. W.E. 
Capps, all of Norfolk.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver funeral Apartments, 
1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow at 12 o'clock noon, with the Rev. L.G. 
Sturdivant, D.D., pastor of Park Place Methodist Church, officiating. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
