L. Bonney lost their youngest child. Yesterday afternoon their other little boy, Charles Vernon, aged five and a half years, also died of pneumonia, while their only remaining child, a sweet little girl, is seriously ill with the same disease. The afflicted parents have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends as the pass through these deep waters. Owning to the illness of the remaining child, the funeral will take place at the grave in the new cemetery at 3:30 o’clock this afternoon. Public Ledger, Feb. 15, 1892 The funeral of Charles Vernon, the six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Bonney took place at 3:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon from the residence of the parents, in Huntersville, the services being conducted by Rev. C. S. Blackwell, if the Third Baptist Church, at the grave. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery. The occasion was an unusually sad one, it being the second child these parents had buried in a week. There was a very large attendance of sympathizing friends. The following boys acted as pall-bearers: Edward Ball, Gilmer Elliott, Herbert W. Cuthriell, W. D. Coates, Harry H. Elliott, and Earl Pettit. Mr. and Mrs. Bonney have still another child seriously ill.
