Booker of 948 Sheldon Avenue died Saturday at 12:30 a.m. in her residence after a long illness. She was a daughter of Cornelius and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hoxley and widow of George Booker. She was a native of Nansemond County and had lived in Norfolk more than 70 years. She was a graduate of Weyland Seminary in Richmond, and taught in public schools of Nansemond County for some years. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was active in the missionary circle. Surviving are three sons, William Booker, of Norfolk, Herman Booker of Newark, N.J., and Paul Booker of Philadelphia; three daughters, Mrs. Beulah Booker Dudley and Mrs. Julia M. White, both of Norfolk, and Mrs. Ethel Maxwell of New York City. The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Jerusalem Baptist Church Tuesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Thomas M. Venable, pastor. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, with hale Funeral Home in charge. Additional Comments: Unrecorded Interment.
