VIRGINIA BEACH - Charles G. Boone , D.D.S., 85, died Jan. 31, 2002, in his home.

Born in Coalport, Pa., he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental 
School and joined the United States Naval Dental Corps. He came to Norfolk in 1954 
and was devoted to his private practice patients for 35 years. He continued in the 
naval reserve until he retired as a commander in 1976. He also retired from the 
Portsmouth City Dental Clinic in 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary; a son, Glenn Boone of Angel Fire, 
N.M.; two daughters, Bobbi Hurwitz and husband Irwin of Virginia Beach and Lori 
Boone of Chesapeake; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His son, 
Paul, predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held this evening at 7 p.m. in Christ the King Catholic 
Church, 3401 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests 
memorials be made to a charity of one's choice. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 
Kempsville Chapel, is handling arrangements.
