Norfolk Virginian June 18, 1895

The funeral of Benj. Borden, son of Capt. J.M. Borden, who was drowned while 
bathing Saturday afternoon, took place Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock from 
South Norfolk M.E. Church and was largely attended.  The floral offerings were 
numerous and handsome, there being several designs from his Sunday school and 
class.  The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Potts, pastor of the church.  
Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. The following boys acted as pallbearers:  Tom 
Brothers, Archie Grenalds, Wallace Burnett, Byer Phillips, Sam Mercer and 
Hunter Whitehurst.
