   Death Notices 

   Borland, Col, Charles Barney, at a Virginia Beach Hospital Friday, March 3,1972.
   Col. Charles Barney Borland husband of Mrs. Cornelia McBlair [Stribbling] Borland
   and a son of late Thomas R. and Mrs. Caroline Barney Borland in the 87th year of his
   age. The remains will be taken from theH. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road,
   to Elmwood Cemetery for services Monday at 11:00am. Friends of family are invited to
   attend.

   Colonel Charles Barney Borland (1886-1972) interned with first wife Grace Odend'hal
   (1884-1959) in family plot, #38 Elmwood cemetery, Norfolk. Second wife, Cornelia
   (1884-1987), interned with parents at Oak Grove cemetery, Norfolk, with tombstone
   showing 1887-1987. 

   Former City Employee 1919 through December 1945, when last was City Manager since
   1938.

   Library of Virginia, written by Breck Daughtrey, 2005 Clerk to the Council, City of
   Norfolk, VA 

   Family portraits at Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk including; parents, grandfather
