Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, September 26, 1999 
Reba White Bostic, 91, of Court House Forest passed away quietly Sept. 23, 1999,
at Bayside Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born in Nansemond County, Huntersville, she was the daughter of the late John
and Susie White and the widow of James L. Bostic.

She was a senior deaconess of First Baptist Church Bute Street and a faithful
member serving in the Missionary Interact, the Gleaners Club and the Do All We
Can Club. Devoted to her church, family and community, she excelled in the
modest opportunities available to her and encouraged everyone to do his best.
During World War II she served as an Apprentice welder in the Portsmouth Naval
Shipyard building Victory ships.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Winnie B. Ward who cared
for her the past 10 years; two grandsons, William J. Rogers Jr. of Virginia
Beach and Lloyd A. Ward of Ft. Monmouth, N.J.; a son-in-law, Retired Army
Lieutenant Colonel Emmett J. Ward; an adopted church family, Deacon and Mrs.
Carol Lawrence; three daughters; three grandchildren; and other relatives and
friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, 418 E.
Bute St., Norfolk, with the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Murray officiating. Burial will
be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today
at Hale Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church from 10 a.m. to the
time of the service.
