On September 10, 2002, at Mariner Health Care in Bethesda, MD. Mr. Bowden retired 
from the Department of Defense in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, 
Grace; two sons, George and Paul, both of Bethesda; daughter Ellen of Kensington; 
and four grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, September 
21, at 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church on Old Georgetown Rd. in Bethesda.
