Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, August 25, 1998 
Claudie Bowden, 92, of the 2800 block of Mapleton Ave., died Aug. 23, 1998, at
his residence.

Born in North Carolina, he retired from the Naval Supply Center after 33 years
of service and was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include a foster daughter, Grace Jones Means of Virginia Beach; a
foster son, Leroy Austin of Norfolk; two sisters, Mannie Fonville of Norfolk and
Lovie Lewis of Washington, N.C.; a brother, Samuel Bowden of Chesapeake; and a
host of relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Burial
will be in Calvary Cemetery . The remains will be placed in repose at 10 a.m.
Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
