Norfolk - Mrs. Mary Howell Bowman of 820 Pollard St., the widow of Thomas 
Bowman, died June 5 in a hospital.

A native of Surry County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mrs. 
Laura Spratley.

She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Hannah E. Howell and Mrs. Marie H. Parker 
of Norfolk, and a brother, James H. Spratley of Chicago.

A funeral service was held June 8 in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. 
Milton A. Reid. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home had 
charge.
