Born in Portsmouth, she had retired as the owner and operator of Bowser's Beauty Nook after 20 years. She was the former co-owner and co-operator of Fannie & Annie's Beauty Shop, Portsmouth. She was a member of Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, and Charles E. Stewart Circle. She was also a member of L'Armantines, and Moles Inc. She was predeceased by her husband, James Bernard Bowser VI. Survivors include a son, James Bernard Bowser VII of Norfolk; a sister, Alice J. Duke of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, James Bernard Bowser VIII and Jeremy J. Bowser, both of Norfolk; a daughter-in-law, Mary P. Bowser, of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Myrick O. Duke, of Portsmouth; and a host of other relatives, in-laws, and friends. A funeral will be at Noon Tuesday at Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. James F. Mason. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
