Dr. J. Jasper Freeman, pastor, officiated. Mr. Boyd, a native of Macon NC, had lived in Norfolk more than 50 years. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mrs. Jane Boyd. He was an active church and social worker. A member of Queen Street board 17 years, and belonged to Bible Class No. 1, 12 years, Star of the East Lodge, No. 1820 of Grand Unit Order of Odd Fellows more than 35 years, Friendship lodge No. 3 of Knights of Pythias, and Knights of Omars lodge of Virginia. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Missouri Boyd; one brother, William H. Boyd of Macon NC; two sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Davis, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Sarah J. Williams of Richmond VA; two nieces, Mrs. Meredith Mitchell, of Richmond, and Miss Essie Mae Boyd of Brooklyn NY. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale's Funeral Home in charge.
