Thomas Lee  Boyd died Aug. 31 at his residence after a long illness.  He was 
the husband of Mrs. Bertha V. Boyd, a native of Mecklenberg County, and the 
son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Luvenia Boyd.

Mr. Boyd had lived in Norfolk for more than forty-five years.

He was a member of the United Order of Odd Fellows and a member of Greater 
St. James AME Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Armstrong, 
Mrs. Viola Bullock, Mrs. Evelyn Cox, Mrs. Angenora Hatchett and Mrs. 
Gwendolyn McCoy;  one son, Curtis Boyd;  and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday Sept. 4, at 8 p.m. at the Greater 
St. James AME Church, with the Rev. D. W. Mack officiating, assisted by the 
Revs. Hilton Felton and Charles Bowden.

Burial took place Thursday morning in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Pretlow’s 
Funeral Home in charge.
