Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha V. Boyd of 110 Whitehead avenue, South Norfolk 
were conducted recently at St. James AME Church.  The Rev. E. W. Judge 
officiated and burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Mrs. Boyd died May 5 in a local hospital after a short illness.  She was the 
daughter of the late Henry and Gennie Vaughan of Norfolk.

She was a member of the Senior Usher Board and Pastor’s Aid Society of St. James 
AME Church, Beulah Temple No. 4, IBPOEW.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Hazel Armstrong, New York;  Mrs. 
Viola Bullock, Baltimore;  Mrs. Evelyn Cox, Mrs. Agenana Hatchett and Mrs. 
Gwendolyn McCoy, South Norfolk;  a son, Curtis Boyd, New York;  two sisters, 
Mrs. Bernice Williamson, Norfolk and Mrs. Clara Bowen, Portsmouth;  two 
brothers, Claude Vaughan,New York;  and Willie Vaughan, Norfolk.

Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery with the Pretlow Funeral Home in charge.
