Bland E. Boyd, 20, a son of Robert and Mrs. Daisy Boyd of Norfolk, died May 29 in a hospital after an illness. A native of Norfolk, his parents lived at 2816 Chesterfield boulevard. He was a 1970 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He had been in the Army since Nov. 4,1970 and overseas in Germany since July 1971. He was assigned to Company C, 7th Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade here. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Norfolk and taught Sunday school at Monticello Baptist Church. Besides his parents, surviving are twin sisters, Misses Denise Boyd and Janice Boyd, three brothers, the Rev. Bobby Boyd, Burnett Boyd, and Darrell Boyd, and grand parents, Mrs. Jennie Tabb and Mrs. Elma Freeman, all of Norfolk. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Monticello Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Sanford. Burial with full military honors, will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday with Walton’s Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, in charge of arrangements.
