Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, May 14, 1993 
James Boyd, 86, of the 1400 block of W. 26th St., died peacefully at DePaul
Medical Center on May 12, 1993.

Mr. Boyd was born in Warrenton, N.C. He was the son of the late David and
Rebecca Jones Boyd and the husband of the late Gertrude H. Boyd. He was retired
as a retarder operator from Norfolk & Western Railway after 37 years of service.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception and the
Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Survivors include one daughter, Marion Ruth Johnson; one son, James M. Boyd; 13
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in the Basilica of St. Mary of the
Immaculate Conception by Father Walter C. Barrett. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Riddick Funeral Service.
The family will be at 508 W. 38th St., Norfolk.
