Michael Wadsworth Boyd, 52, of the 3500 block of Carriage Hill Circle, formerly 
of New York, died Dec. 23, 1994. 

He was born in Norfolk and was a counselor for the New York State Education 
Department for 23 years before retiring. He was predeceased by his mother, Ann 
Elizabeth Mendoza Whitehurst. 

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Edward and Etta Whitehurst; one 
sister, Tejuana Mendoza Bradford of Maryland; grandmother, Alvania Jernigan 
Mendoza; uncles, Hosa Mendoza of Milwaukee, Wis., and Donacan Mendoza of 
Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Cemetery , 
Norfolk, by the Rev. Joseph Copeland of the United Church of Christ. Hale 
Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
