Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, January 23, 1997 
Walter Branch, 89, of the 7500 block of Merritt St., died Jan. 15, 1997, in
Sentara Nursing Home, Virginia Beach.

Born in Princess Anne County, he was a retired engineer helper of the U.S. Naval
Air Station. He was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Branch; a daughter, Lucy M. Evans; 11
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren; devoted
cousins, Eddie Payton, Elizabeth Bauer and Lillian Richardson; and a host of
other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Walter Branch Jr.,
and parents, Meliza P. Branch and John Branch.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Mount Herman Baptist Church,
Norfolk, by the Rev. Steven Lewis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
family will be receiving friends and relatives at 206 Harrier St., Virginia
Beach, where the family will assemble at noon for the procession to the church.
