Branton was conducted from the residence of his brother-in-law Captain W.H. Hancock, on Berkley avenue, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. L.R. Watson, pastor of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. E.W. Cowling, rector of St. Thomas' Episcopal church, officiating. The interment was in Magnolia cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: Messrs. W.W. Robertson, R.A. McCoy, Charles Gibbs, W.G. Larmour, George D. Parker, Jr., Norman F. Allen, H.L. West and Dr. George W. Wallace. Mr. Branton died Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock, at St. Christopher's hospital, Norfolk, after a lingering illness from malarial fever and a complication of other troubles, at the age of 39 years. The deceased moved from this place several years ago to Georgetown, S.C., where he was engaged in the lumber business. He came to Norfolk about two weeks ago to undergo treatment at the above named hospital, where he remained until his death. Mr. Branton leaves a widow, Mrs. Hattie Branton, and five children, four boys, Carmer R., William H., James L. and Frederick Branton and one daughter, Miss Kathline Branton.
