Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, October 1, 1992 
Virginia L. Braswell of the 5600 block of Tidewater Drive, died Sept. 28, 1992,
in her home.

Mrs. Braswell was born in Norfolk and was a member of First Baptist Church Bute
Street. She was the widow of Ira Braswell.

Survivors include two daughters, Toni Phelps of Alexandria and Rita Lovett of
Atlanta; six sons, Ira Braswell III of Winchester, Va., Van Braswell of Arizona,
Keith Braswell of Midland, Texas, Karl Braswell of Norfolk, David Braswell of
Belgium and the Rev. Joseph Braswell of Columbia, Md.; four brothers, Robert
Alston of Washington, D.C., Alvin Alston of Hampton and Alexander Alston and
Stewart Alston, both of Norfolk; and 24 grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Bute
Street by the Rev. Robert Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends
may join the family at 2422 Ludlow St. The body will be placed in church at 10
a.m. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
