A son of George and Mrs. Kitty Braxton, he was a native of King and Queen County and lived in Norfolk 54 years. He formerly was employed by Old Dominion Tobacco Co. 13 years and retired from the Navy Exchange after eight years. He was a member of First Baptist Church on Bute Street. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ophelia S. Braxton; two sons, Hunter Braxton Jr. and Walter M. Braxton of Baltimore; two half-sisters, Mrs. Vernell Lee and Mrs. Blanche Edwards of Norfolk; three brothers, Thomas Mitchell Braxton and Van Braxton of Norfolk and Edwin Braxton of Middlesex County; two half-brothers, Musco Braxton and Hayes Braxton of Norfolk; one grandson and five great- grandchildren. The body was taken to Hale Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. Paul Simmn, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
