J. E. Brickhouse, and a native of Norfolk, died in her eighty-first year at her home at 7 p.m. Monday. She is the daughter of the late Isaiah and Emma E. Salyer, both of Norfolk. A graduate of the old Norfolk Mission College, she taught school in Norfolk and vicinity for many years prior to and during the early years of her marriage. She was a member of St. Paul CME Church in which she was quite active until prevented by illness, and the Daughters of Norfolk Civic and Beneficial Association. Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Eunice G. Brickhouse, and Mrs. Helen B. Moorman, of Norfolk; two sons, K. E. Brickhouse of Baltimore MD, and L. E. Brickhouse, of Norfolk; three granddaughters, one grandson, and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted from the residence at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, by the Rev. J. T. McClennon, pastor of St. Paul CME Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
