Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch May 1, 1925
Mrs. Mary E. Briggs, aged 81 years, widow of Capt. J. R. Briggs, a former resident 
of Norfolk, died Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock at Richmond, Va. Surviving her 
are one brother, Charles H. Hart, of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews. 
Services will be held at H. D. Oliver’s funeral apartments, 610-12 E. Freemason 
street, tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock, Rev. J. W. Moore, D.D., pastor of Epworth 
M. E. church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
