Wicks, 113 Berkley Avenue, Berkley, Norfolk, Va., Monday morning, November 12, 1916, at 5 o'clock, MRS. MARY E. BRIGGS, widow of A.R. Briggs, in the 81st year of her age. The funeral will be conducted at the above residence WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, at 2 o'clock. Friends of the family respectfully invited to attend. The interment (private) in Magnolia Cemetery. ****************** Mrs. Mary E. Briggs, in her 81st year, died yesterday morning at 5 o'clock at the residence of her nephew, H.L. Wicks, 113 Berkley Avenue, after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Briggs was a native of New York state and was the widow of A.R. Briggs of Brooklyn. She had been a resident of Berkley sixteen years, having made her home with her nephew, and was highly esteemed. She is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Lycurgus Berkley and Mrs. G.D. Williams, Messrs. H.L. and C.E. Wicks. Mrs. Briggs was a member of Memorial M.E. Church. The funeral will be conducted at the residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. W.T. Green, presiding elder of the Portsmouth district, assisted by Rev. E.T. Dadmun, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ********************************************************************* The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Briggs was conducted at the home of her nephew, H.L. Wicks, 113 Berkley Avenue, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. W.T. Green, a former pastor of Memorial Methodist Church, but now presiding elder of the Portsmouth district, assisted by Rev. E.T. Dadmun, the present pastor of Memorial Church, and burial was in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful and the attendance was large. The pallbearers were selected from her nephews as follows: G. Herman Williams, Irving and Raymond Wicks, Wallace E. Gibbs, C.J. Sweetman, Jr., and Theodore A.
