Brinkley of 2519 Middle Ave., a native of Winfall, N.C., and the husband of Carrie Brinkley, died Friday in a Hampton hospital. He was a retired automobile mechanic and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist. Other survivors include a daughter, Josephine Horton of Elmira, N.Y.; two sisters, Cleo Wright of Highland Park, N.J., and Mamie Williams of South River, N.J.; six brothers, Rudolph Gatling of St. Albans, N.Y., Preston Gatling and Clifton Gatling of New Brunswick, N.J., Luther Gatling of Jamaica, N.Y., Vernon Gatling of South River and Alvin Gatling of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a grandchild. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in hale Funeral Chapel by Dr. Jackson A. Browne. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at his home.
