The Virginian Pilot March 24, 1980
Wilbur G. Brinson, 85, formerly of 1114 North Shore Road, who engaged in the 
wholesale coal business during the major part of his life, died Sunday in a 
hospital.
Brinson, a native of Norfolk, was the husband of the late Mrs. Grace Hart, also 
of Norfolk.
At the time of retirement, he was vice president of Logan & Kanawha Coal Co., 
Cincinnati, Ohio.
He served in the Navy during World War I  During his earlier years he was a 
leader in church and civic affairs of the area.  He was a member of Episcopal 
Church of the Ascension.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Norfolk; Hampton Roads Maritime 
Association; Khedive Shrine Temple; The Virginia Club; Princess Anne Country 
Club; and Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.
When he served as master of Norfolk Masonic Lodge 1, he was the youngest 
worshipful master of Masons in North America.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James L. Nelson and Mrs. George Bowers 
Jr. of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Episcopal Church of the 
Ascension by the Rev. E. Boyd Coarsey Jr.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery 
with H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments in charge.  The family asks that flowers be 
omitted and memorial donations may be made to Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
