George Anthony Broadnax was born in Norfolk, VA on April 28, 1949. He received 
his heavenly wings on December 27, 2022.
George attended public school in Norfolk, Va. He was passionate about the water. 
He joined the Navy and later served as a merchant seaman for the Military 
Sealift Command from which he retired. It allowed him to travel and meet people 
from all over the world. But nothing was more important to him than family. His 
entire family was his life.
He effortlessly kept in touch with everyone.  No matter if it was a sibling or a 
third cousin, he always called or popped in for a visit. If you needed a phone 
number or the status of a loved one, he had it. He was truly the link that kept 
the family connected.
George is predeceased in death by his parents Lee and Julia Broadnax and his 
sister Theresa Pretlow.  He leaves to cherish his memory: five brothers Lee 
“Butch” Broadnax (Reda), Carl Broadnax (Phyllis), Dwayne Broadnax, Michael 
Broadnax (Erika), and Jerry Broadnax (Lucy); one sister Siboney Patterson 
(Brian); and a host of nieces and nephews.
