Virginian Pilot Sunday, February 8, 1953 
Miss Margaret Moore Brock Age 77, Norfolk native who for 21 years was 
assistant superintendent of the old Holt Street
Orphanage, which evolved into the Edgewater Home for Girls, died Saturday 
morning, February
7, 1953 in a Lynchburg hospital after an illness of two months. She was forced 
by ill health to
resign her position at the orphanage and seek a different climate. She had 
been a resident of
Lynchburg since 1924. Her parents were WILSON SHEPHERD BROCK and Mrs. SARAH
BALSAM BROCK. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. SARAH JORDAN of Hampton. The body 
will be
brought to Norfolk for funeral services. The body will be taken from the 
Hollomon-Brown
Funeral Home to Elmwood Cemetery for funeral services at the grave Monday, 
February 9, 1953
at 5 pm by the Rev JASON L. MACMILLAN.
